September 10th, 2009 Posted in General Insurance TipsThere is no difference if your business is confined to an office environment or is road-based – you still need good insurance cover.
With small business insurance, there are a whole raft of liabilities that have to be covered by law. if any accident occurs, it could be the end of a company if the liabilities are not adequately covered. One of the most important aspect of office insurance, is General Liability. Limited companies are legally bound to this, as it protects the workforce and insures the general public as well.
Business van insurance is an area often overlooked by owners of vans who are self-employed or who run a fleet of vehicles. Because of the extra cost with premiums, people often think that they will be covered with standard insurance. it is a bit of a risk to take for the owner, as the cargo could be outside of the policy’s covered area. It is true that during the course of a delivery, if involved with an accident, the cargo is highly likely to be damaged beyond repair.
Many people drop collision cover when the vehicle reaches a certain age. When hit by someone else it would usually mean that they are no longer covered. This is not a recommended path to follow, as your vehicle could be written off at any time, for example by a branch from a tree. It may be the case that you will save little money by excluding this cover, when studying a policy.
Van insurance used to be prohibitively expensive, but nowadays excellent premiums can be found. The main benefits that you should expect to see are:
1. 24 hour assistance in the event of an accident. In the event of an accident, if fully covered, you would expect to receive roadside help. It would be reasonable to expect a replacement for a damaged vehicle, if yours is damaged in an accident.
2. Any repair work should be guaranteed for years by the use of selected quality garages.
